Very friendly and honest family-owned automotive repair shop. Had an American truck that I needed a radiator changed out right away as I had a long drive ahead of me and they were able to start on it for us right away. The wait time was long as the radiator had to be ordered and delivered to their shop so they even offered to give us a ride to lunch! If I lived in the area, I would definitely make them my go-to-place for any car repairs.

All the way from the Bay Area! Amazing the power of the internet. Thanks again for stopping by, and we are pleased you made it home alright!

This is the spot for my family to go for any car related maintenance work or major repair... from routine oil changes to ____________ (fill in name of a major car repair work, ex. timing belt, brake pads, etc). It's a family owned business. The older Japanese gentleman may appear to be a bit stern or difficult to understand, but he's the sweetest. Anyway, he remembers my parents and tells me to say hello on his behalf when I take in cars without my parents. His son is one of the mechanics there and also a friendly person.. he really takes the time to explain and gives honest recommendations on what your car needs. So, look no further... this is the place to go if you own a Japanese car! Tip: super busy on weekends (like any other repair shop)... better idea to drop off car and pick it up later.. or if you're going to wait, make sure you let them know that you're waiting... it seems like they'll work on your car sooner if they know you're waiting for it.

For my first visit to Toyko, I had the 90K service, a door locking mechanism installed and a water leak under the dash inspected that involved removing the entire glove compartment and cd player. The car is a 1993 Lexus RX300 that had previously been serviced by Lexus of Tustin. The quote from Lexus of Toyota for all the above work was, and I am not embellishing, over $3700 for at least two days of work. Lexus of Tustin insisted that the leak required removing the entire dash to get at the leak and the 90K service would be around $1100. The door lock would be around $500.. Yes, that means over $200 for the water leak. So, after searching Yelp thorouhgly, I chose Tokyo Auto Repair. It's s family run business that is done the old fashioned way. Respect and honor. Total cost for the above: less than $800 (did not include the timing belt which Tustin required. Toyko assurred me that I could safely wait another 10 - 15000 miles for that and the cost would be aroung $500). In short, who needs dealer prices when Toyko performs at such a high level. If you don't need it done, they won't charge you for it and there is no Sales commission for the service agent or the mechanic. Ihave become a loyal customer of Toyko Auto and will also bring my new 2011 Is250C for all service work.

I'm really picky about mechanics and when I moved here two years ago, I had no clue where to look. I look up mechanics on yelp and saw that Tokyo Auto was nearby and had pretty good reviews. Took my car down for a check up and had a great experience. Throughout the years, I've had a few problems with my car being old and somewhat worn and always took it there. They always gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done, and showed me exactly what needed fixing. They answered all my questions, and always completed the work in the same day after dropping the car off in the morning. If anything else goes wrong with my car, I will definitely go back.

As soon as I moved back to Orange County it would seem that karma would strike and my Prius would develop a scary noise. Now that my Prius is off warranty I've been wanting to find a reliable independent mechanic that knows hybrid systems. Fortunately, the problem wasn't the engine and I was given a quick diagnosis that an engine mount broke. My car was ready in a matter of hours without an appointment and for much less then I was quoted. Add to the satisfying feeling of supporting a family business and I left with a smile!

one of my best friend's family has been going to this repair shop for 10+ years (not sure how long..possibly longer). They specialize in Japanese cars (Honda, Nissan, Toyota primarily). The prices are very reasonable and they ONLY use certified parts from the maker of the car. The labor is reasonable too. They are honest and it's family owned. I highly recommend this place. They also speak japanese :)

I love this mechanic! My Camry has 200,000 miles on it and still runs like new because of Aki. He is a great mechanic, an honest person, charges fair prices, and runs an efficient shop. So glad his son is following in his father's footsteps. So much piece of mind having this team to rely on!

My family has been going to Tokyo Auto for 20+ years. There are very few mechanics out there you can trust. Especially asking the women of your life to just go and drop the car off and trust that they will do the right thing. I recommend Tokyo Auto to everyone I know. Aki is by far the best mechanic that I know. Case and point, when I purchased my brand new 2003 Toyota Tacoma. The truck ran warmer then the last Tacoma. I called and talked to the Toyota Dealer, they gave me the run around. Finally, I got fed up and took it directly to Aki. He performed a full diagnostic and figured out that the the truck is fine. They had changed the temperature to make it run hotter. A straight answer that I could not get from the dealership I bought the truck from. As far as I am concerned Tokyo Auto is better then the dealer. We just got new tires on my 2007 Tundra. Tatsu gave me a great deal on a set of tires on my Tundra. Thanks Tatsu! All that to say Tokyo Auto is the best!I don't even live in Orange county, we drive 30 minutes every time my car needs service. Its a worth while drive for me!

I usually don't write reviews but in this instance I feel very compelled to give recognition to this awesome business.I went to Tokyo Automotive Repair on a recommendation from a friend who had a a similar problem on his wife's car. He mentioned that he had shopped around and found that they were cheaper than her family's usual mechanic.I brought my car in the next week to have Tokyo Automotive Repair take a look at it. After taking a look at the problem (power steering) and a few other minor issues I told them about, i had them go ahead and fix everything. When the work was done and I went to go pick up my car, I looked at the bill and it was higher than I expected, based on what my friend mentioned it would be. I thought it was because of the extra stuff I needed to have fixed and I looked at the invoice and it all made sense, but pricey.I get a call the next day from the owner, Aki Tsuchida and he tells me that his wife over charged me and wanted me to come in so he can refund his mistake.Aki refunded me $160 and apologized profusely for his mistake. I was blown away from this whole transaction. Not many businesses would 1) would admit they made a mistake and 2) give you your money back. They easily could have gone on and pocketed the difference and I wouldn't have known.Tokyo Automotive Repair has definitely gone above and beyond my expectations and I will definitely recommend them to anyone.

I joined yelp just to rate this place. Honest people, family owned, happy looking employees and a nice atmosphere. The owner told me to buy a new car rather than spend money on some monstrous repairs - he felt bad, but I really just appreciated the honesty! Most places would have taken the car for the money and not warned me that any fix would be both expensive and temporary.
