Why We are Thankful for Our Cars

As we head into this holiday season, there are so many things to be grateful for and to find gratitude in, but we often leave out our cars. It’s easy to take owning and driving a car for granted, and it can even sound a little materialistic, but in reality, car ownership affords us many luxuries from the simple to the extreme. If you are fortunate enough to own a car, that means you don’t have to ride a bus or ask friends or family for rides. There is a lot to be grateful for when you own a car.

Owning a car means freedom. Freedom to get to work and back on your own terms. Freedom to visit friends and family. Freedom to leave a party or other situation that makes you feel uncomfortable. They ways it offers freedom is close to limitless.

A car means not having to stand in the rain at the bus station. We can come and go as we see fit and not have to try and fit into anyone else’s schedule. We can leave when we want to leave. Driving our own car lessens the amount of time we sit around waiting somewhere because we didn’t have to get there early due to the bus schedule.

Take time to also be grateful for all the technology modern cars possess. From safety to navigation to just plain fun, today’s vehicles offer just about anything you can imagine and beyond. The automotive industry is even working on autonomous driving that has the potential to eliminate accidents.

American’s have had a love affair with out cars since the very beginning. For a country that fought hard for independence and freedom, that makes complete sense that we are so passionate about our vehicles. Whether they simply get us to and from the places that we need to go and be, or they are steeped in luxury or power, our cars mean something to us that is hard to explain.
